All Roads Lead to Rome?!?

Rome
Rome

What a load of Tosh!! All roads do not lead to Rome, and all Faiths do not lead to ‘salvation’ or Freedom. History dictates that all religions oppose anyone that does not conform to their way of thinking. Extremism pervades every aspect of any faith that has a ‘God’! If we do not obey their dictates, then we are subject to legal or religious action that can end in our death, innocent or otherwise.

It is my experience of various faiths, over the last ten years, that the driving force behind ‘most’ of them is control. Subjugation of the masses is the goal, and anyone who objects is an outcast, a blasphemer, an infidel! Such faiths are the reason for almost any war on this planet.

Suffering
Suffering

If ‘God’ created us and this planet then he screwed up royally. There is nothing but suffering. Suffering pervades every aspect of our lives; EVERY aspect. Whether we are a tramp or a king, suffering is the rule of the day. We crave indulgence, pleasure, the pampering of the five senses, and when we do not get it we turn to despondency, anger and even rage. We are jealous of our rivals, we are fearful of the opposition, we are burdened by bills, debts and court action. Suffering pervades the very fabric of our existence. What ‘loving’ God would provide us with such constant misery? If there is a ‘Hell’ then we are all already in it.

Buddha
Buddha

Yet there is an escape. The Noble Eightfold Path. The Buddha discovered it 2500 years ago(ish), long before Christ and Mohammed came on the scene and the trouble really set in. Don’t get me wrong, I do not blame Christ nor Mohammed; I blame the followers, the extremists, the zealots! They have turned peaceful yet flawed religions into weapons and reasons for wholesale slaughter of innocents. Buddhism is the only system to include EVERBODY in it’s net. Everyone is accepted, everyone on the planet is cared for, everyone has a chance at escape from the net of Samsara (the continual round of rebirth and death).

Of course there are some extremists in the Buddhist faith who do not follow the path and find reason for conflict yet these are few and far between because conflict goes completely against the very nature of the Eightfold Path, and the 4 Noble Truths. You will find the source of those conflicts to be rogue governments bent on subjugation and control. Just as is the case with many ‘Christian’

Osama

countries (U.S.A.) and the likes of I.S.I.S. The Judaic-Christian ‘God’ is responsible for more death and destruction than any other reason that has been thought up for war, and the Governments of the world use the differences between this ‘God’ and ‘Allah’ to foment reasons for conflict that are completely unnecessary. I.S.I.S. would not exist if the U.S.A. and the U.K. had kept their respective noses out of the Middle East. Let the Middle East have their in-fighting. It has been proven that Tony Blair lied to the Commons and the public just so he could join in the fight and back up George Bush. All because of the oil!

I know I am ranting… and that is not a good sign for a practicing Buddhist, but the continual drivel spouted by our leaders, and theirs, makes me mourn for the world. It makes me weep for those caught up in the conflicts, the pointless death, the suffering and loss. It makes me sad for those left behind to mourn the dead and dying. The armies of this world, both ours and theirs should lay down their weapons and say ‘NO MORE!’ If that were to actually happen there may be a chance that negotiation could find a solution, so long as greed were to be left outside the negotiating table. Every situation has a peaceful solution, but greed will stop any talks in their tracks if it is allowed to take hold, and greed is one of the defilements that Buddhists try to curtail and finally uproot.

Justice
Justice

To expect religious Zealots to find compassion for their ‘enemy’ is unrealistic. They have been ‘programmed’ since birth to hate and despise. Their only goal in life is to murder innocents, to cause fear and terror whenever they can. These people whether Christian, Jewish or Muslim, need locking up for the rest of their lives because they serve no purpose in the progression of the human race. They are a constant threat to all those whose only desire is to lead a peaceful and fulfilling life. Yet our court systems are not designed for these sorts of individuals, and extradition laws are so convoluted that it can take decades before justice is truly seen to be done. I do not believe in the death penalty, even for the most extreme cases, because there is always the possibility of further mitigating evidence to turn up. This has been historically proven, and so the criminal, because that is what they are, should spend the rest of their days behind bars.

I guess there will be people out there saying we should try to re-educate these terrorists. That is true… but whilst they are locked up securely with no recourse to external communications. No internet, no phones, a very restricted list of visitors. With the programming they have undergone, they are a constant and real threat to the wellbeing of any innocent citizen of this planet, and the governments of this world need to wake up to this. Just bombing areas of the Middle East enflames

War
War

the extremists desires for revenge and our governments know this, so there is another agenda behind these ‘Holy’ wars. It is subjugation of the masses, keep them in fear, restrict freedom of movement, restrict freedom of speech. Western governments are just as guilty as the likes of I.S.I.S. They inflame the problem as often as they can, legally, or illegally.

Has anyone noticed that the whole ‘Islamic’ problem only started once the Berlin Wall collapsed? Suddenly we had no super-power to fear. Suddenly we had no ‘reason’ for our nuclear arsenals and the size of our armies, so something else had to be engineered to give reason for the military. They had to give us something else to be scared of, so the Middle East was picked, Saddam Husein was picked out of the bag because he had started trading oil in Euro’s instead of Dollars and the whole sordid mess that followed is now history. We have had Al-Qaeda rise from the war, that seems to have disappeared since Osama bin Laden was apparently killed. We now have I.S.I.S. to deal with thanks to U.S.A. and U.K. policies in the Middle East. Terrorists are mowing down people in the public high street using motor-vehicles with gay abandon and nothing, it would seem, is being done about it. The West want us all to live in fear for our lives. There is no other explanation I can think of.

God, Jehovah, Allah
God, Jehovah, Allah

The Christian Right Wing want blood, the Jews want to flatten Iran and the extremist Middle East want the death of every westerner who is not Muslim. Yet ‘God’ is supposed to have created this world, and ‘God’ is supposed to love us all. Each nation involved believes ‘God’ or ‘Jehovah’ or ‘Allah’ is on their side. They obviously can’t all be right because those three names are supposed to represent the same deity!

Peace can only come from inside. We need an understanding that we are all equal, essentially all the

Peace
Peace

same inside, and we all basically want the same things. The mind programming of our children has to stop, the bigotry and racist rhetoric needs to finish, and global compassion for all needs to be introduced to every school that exists, and every home! We will never experience a world without war unless these things happen. The human mind needs to understand that we are all children of ‘God’, if he, she, or it exists. We are all equal on this planet, from the Kings, Queens and Dictators down to the lowly sheep herder out in the fields of remotest Russia. The I.S.I.S. fanatic is just the same as the little granny picking up her groceries that he decides needs to die. The fanatical Christian right wing extremist is just the same as the I.S.I.S. fanatic. The Buddhist monk is just the same as the most devout Hasidic Jew. We are all children of this planet and we should all treat each other as such. To do anything else is to lead us down exactly the path we are on, terror, war, death and destruction.

Government
Government

The Governments of this world need to wake up and smell the roses, but they won’t because of their hidden agendas. Their lust for power and greed precludes them from compassion. They demand subjugation, they demand fear, they demand the right to send our military in to whatever pointless battle they can dream up. Death of innocents does not concern them because greed has overpowered their minds, the only death they are concerned about is their own, hence the formidable forces employed to protect these criminals. If any of them were to be dumped into the battle zone they send our soldiers into, they wouldn’t last five minutes without a mental breakdown. They are cowards of the worst kind.

Democracy
Democracy

I believe in free will. I believe in true democracy but we do not have true democracy, we have a sham system designed to ensure only two parties are viable. Black or white, blue or red, whatever their colours, there are only ever two parties that really have a chance of power. That is not democracy, that is not free speech and freedom of choice. Certainly their are other parties in the wings but they stand no chance against the big boys, so if you disagree with the two main parties then you are making an almost pointless vote. To stand out as an outsider has been seen to be a source of mockery. To be a lonely voice in the crowd is to mark you out as weird, a kook, a pretender. To stand up to the big boys is almost pointless. True democracy allows ‘everyone’s’ voice to be heard with equal weight. The British News services are littered with reports of back-hand deals, money changing hands for particular agendas and dubious financial deals. The man in the street has no opportunities like these, only big business and big players. I assume the American government is just as corrupt.

Bullets
Bullets

Of course the biggest joke of all is that many of these ‘terrorists’ are using weapons sold to them by the U.S.A. and the U.K. when they were employed in previous wars for our own ends. Our own bullets are killing our own soldiers! Yet the respective western governments still do ‘deals’ with Middle East rebels to promote their own agendas. The problem comes when those agendas are met. The rebels are left to pick up the pieces with no further support from us. They become disgruntled, and, over time, become the next wave of terrorists that we have to deal with. This has been the cycle of events for decades now, and it MUST be on purpose, otherwise the Western Governments would stop being so mind bogglingly stupid.

Christianity
Christianity

Religious war is the worst kind of war because it is waged by narrow minded extremists on both sides. ‘God’ will win out so the leaders of the respective nations have no problem with causing huge collateral damage because ‘God’ will sort it all out, and the innocents who die will end up in ‘Heaven’ anyway. There is no ‘check’ or ‘reign’ that stops the carnage either side is willing to cause. Blood has been spilled by the gallon over the last two millennia in the name of ‘God’, and it is still split today for the same reason. Compassion is a very rare resource.

Hunger
Hunger

I end this somewhat lengthy post, and, I admit, a somewhat angry post, with a heart felt wish that humanity will someday wake up to the futility of religious war. Nothing is ever achieved by it other than pointless death and suffering. No one benefits in the long run and it can take years for the innocents to return to something resembling normal life. I pray that compassion will enter our leaders hearts and true altruism will become manifest between nations. The millions who suffer hunger every day could easily be fed with the money spent on arms and war.

With the above in mind, I wish all sentient beings peace and hope they live without fear.

My Third EWTN Question

I asked Dr Anders on EWTN’s ‘Called to Communion’ show about dryness and his answer can be heard at about the 20 minute mark in this YouTube video. My thanks go out to Dr. Anders and his team for the care and help they have provided me.

Dryness

I have heard of this before, and experienced it many times. It is when the sense of spiritual connection disappears. There is a loss of connection and a spiritual ‘dryness’ continues, for days, weeks, or even months. Pray, meditation and even ritual make no difference. I believe that this is what is known as the dark night of the soul. Many a practitioner will have encountered it. Doubt reigns supreme and no matter what you do, God seems to have deserted you. This is what is happening to me at the moment.

Mary the Mother of Christ

Luke 1:46-55 I have prayed to Mary. More as an experiment than anything, but it was an honest test, and I was surprised with the results. I asked her to come into my life, something I had never done before and the sense/feeling I got at the time was different from anything I have felt in the past. There was a gentleness, a kindness to her. Christ and God both ‘feel’ different. Mary is full of compassion and love. That is not to say Christ and God aren’t, but the feeling of praying to Mary seems to have those two attributes over anything else.

My 2nd Question to EWTN

I know that Catholics believe that Christ is embodied in the Holy Sacrament so I decided to ask Dr D. Anders about it yesterday. Here is the answer at about the 22:00 minute mark.
